Soccorso is Enzo Tiezzi's prize vineyard site, with 50-year-old vines at a high elevation of 530 feet. This site also has an illustrious history -- in the 1800s it was owned by a professor who was one of the pioneers of the Brunello DOC. Under Tiezzi's dedicated and expert tutelage, the vineyard has been restored to its current, environmentally friendly state -- producing a terrific Brunello in tiny quantities. Wonderfully focused and concentrated, deep plummy notes are edged with raisins and leather, with a beautifully chewy, rich texture that speaks of this wine's considerable potential longevity.
