Wintry Mountain Vines in Southern France
New Wine & Spirits
Perspectives & Pleasures
Wine, like everything connected to nature, is about change and renewal
– and about the delights of variety.
The variations on the
pleasures of wine – and of wine and food pairings, however simple
– can be a joy and a welcome diversion through the cold winter months.
And artisanal spirits – a broadly expanding feature at Prospect – are one of the most exciting recent developments making for lively diversity in the shop. Throughout the past year, new distillers – both local and from across the US – frequently visited us to offer tastes of their wares – and the most distinctive of these grace our shelves in profusion.
Over the past couple of years our selection of artisanal – and often local – spirits has grown by leaps and bounds. Whiskeys, Vodkas, Gins, Rums, Brandies, Bitters, Liqueurs and Vermouths from as nearby as Gowanas and Greenpoint, from a little further away (the Hudson Valley, Vermont), or from far-afield areas such as the South and the Rocky Mountains – all await to please your palate and warm your winter evenings.
of the great rewards of working with wine (and we who select and
"screen" what's in the bottles at Prospect collectively have over
100 years of wine and spirits experience) is that there's ALWAYS something new
awaiting us with each new season and each new year. New vintages
reflect the weather and climate in individual ways, gifted new winemakers
appear on the scene, and different vineyard areas come to the fore
for a range of reasons.
this new year we'll be striving harder than ever to find for all
of you the most delightful, delicious wines and spirits at the most reasonable
prices possible. We look forward to sharing our enthusiasm for these
discoveries with you, every day in the shop and especially on Saturdays
when we hold our tastings, every week,
from 4:00PM to 6:00PM. And do come visit us anytime to peruse the
shelves, ask questions and get acquainted with new wines!
